underworld
In ancient Greek belief an otherworld where souls go after death. According to this idea of afterlife
the soul is separated from the corpse at the moment of death, taking on the form of the person, and is transported to
the entrance of the underworld which is imagined either at the outer edges of the ocean or beneath the depths of the
earth. This realm of the dead, hades, is the dark counterpart to the bright kingdom of the
gods on Olympos. - Still much deeper than the underworld is
tartaros.
Urania
1) One of the nine muses, associated with astronomy. In art, she was
represented with a celestial globe. Urania is said to be the mother of the ancient bard Linos and of
Hymenaios.
2) A daughter of Okeanos and Tethys.
3) A surname of Aphrodite, describing her as "the heavenly".
Uranos
Primeval sky god. In Greek mythology Gaia bore him by herself, and then
they had many offsprings together, namely Kronos and the other
Titans. When he threw the Cyclopes, children of Gaia and Kronos into the
tartaros, Uranos was castrated by Kronos, who then took the reign.

Certain classes of Neolithic and Early
Helladic ware decorated with a glaze-like paint applied with a brush before firing.
