Between the acropolis and the "Treasury of Atreus", just East of the modern road, scattered fundaments of Mycenaean houses and Hellenistic remains can be seen. This lower city was occupied until the Argive conquest in 468 BC and then again for a short period in the third century BC. |

The complex of buildings and rooms is known as "Oil-merchant House group" because of the numerous storage jars that were found in the excavations. |
