Epano Phournos Tomb

location of Epano Phournos tomb Epano Phournos tomb

The "Epano Phournos Tomb" is another example of group I of the tholos tombs, dated to the LH IIA period (ca. 1500 BC). The roof of the thalamos has collapsed, as usual with rubble masonry, and there is no special decoration of the stomion. There are, however, two impressive lintels still remaining above the monumental gateway. - Below: The road to the tomb and views across the stomion to the Argolic plain with the Larissa in the distance.
