Above and below: Sanctuary on the southwest side of the mound with altars and wells, dated to the Greek-Roman era. The sanctuary was, perhaps, founded as early as the first quarter of the seventh century BC, dug into the ruins of Troy VI and VII. There are some indications that here the gods of Samothrake were worshipped in secret rites.

In the last 15 years it has become clear that a Lower City existed South of the mound in all prehistoric periods and extended to about 30 ha already in the Late Bronze Age. At least in Troy VI / VIIa this Lower City was surrounded by an impressive U-shaped fortification ditch, approximately 3.5 m wide and 2 m deep, hewn into the limestone bedrock. - Unfortunately the remains visible in this only partially excavated area are not signposted and described at the site.
