Hermitages

In the 16th century there were 24 monasteries and hermitages in this area. Most of them are in ruins today and only five of them are still inhabited. But walking around between the rocks you can still see deserted hermitages, caves and crumbling ruins of monasteries).

The entrance of the church "Agios Georgios tou Mandila" is decorated with colorful scarves hanging on lines. Every year on the day when St. George is honored the local youths climb the rock to replace the scarves with new ones.
