In 1394 the castle was committed to the Serenissima, but fell into disrepair during the great Veneto-Turkish war of 1463-1479. By the treaty of 1481, it remained in Venetian hands on condition that it would not be rebuilt. Thereafter the castle of Civeri vanishes from history and there is no mention of it. - In June 1825, during the Greek revolution, the Greek general Makrygiannis chose the hill as a defending position and prevented the forces of Ibrahim Pasha to approach Nafplion.

Today, the remaining towers are quite impressive, but most parts of the encircling walls have collapsed. And the buildings inside are not easy to make out.
