building of the National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum in Athens is one of the most famous museums in the world and houses the richest collection of archaic, classical and hellenistic Greek art. - The construction of the museum in the 19th century was originally designed by the architect Ludwig Lange but his plans were later modified. The latest changes, including a rearrangement of the facade were made by Harmodios Vlachos and Ernst Ziller.

The pictures included on the following pages do not claim to give a complete coverage - not even of the most prominent pieces! Probably they only represent a few of my personal favourites.
