Megalon Meteoron

Megalon Meteoron is with its 60.000 m² the largest of the Meteora monasteries. It was founded by the later beatified monk Athanasios Meteorites who fled from Mount Athos in 1334. - Until 1925 the monastery could only be reached by rope ladders or a winch with net. Today, a staircase with 143 stone steps and a tunnel lead to the entrance.

Agia Triada

The monastery Agia Triada (Holy Trinity), built between 1458 and 1476, towering high up in the rocks - the "columns of the sky". - Some visitors know it better as the location of a James Bond movie.
