Above: The Late Hellenistic Artemision in the west wing of the Asklepieion. It was a sanctuary of Artemis Phosphoros and Orthia, who was also worshipped in Sparta. The rectangular room of 10.30 x 5.80 m contains several inscribed statue bases. - Below: The architrave of the Asklepieion was beautifully adorned with bulls' heads and cultic bowls alternately. |
