The Roman forum lies on top of the Greek agora. Like in Greek poleis the forum of Roman Civitates was the heart of a settlement. Located at the crossing of important streets, there was commerce, discussion and feasts, practicing the cult of the community. The forum of Corinth already shows features of the imperial fori to be established after the death of Julius Caesar to demonstrate the power and the splendour of the Roman emperor. |

The colossal rectangle of the Roman forum comprises remains of buildings of once great monumentality as well as architectural fragments scattered around in the area. - Above right: Remains of the Babbius Monument, a circular monopteros of the early 1st century AD. It was built by Babbius Philinus, a rich freedman of Greek descent who served as a local official in the region. |

Above left: View of the agora with steps in front leading down to the Sacred Spring (unfortunately closed for visitors). It was connected with an oracle of the 5th century BC below the centre of the Greek agora by an underground passage. - Below: The area of the Northwest-Stores with the temple of Apollon behind. |
