Just outside modern Mochlos, two larger buildings were excavated. They are dated to Late Minoan IB and are thus contemporary to the extensive town on the island. Both buildings show features of an industrial complex, but were also inhabited and contained a shrine.

Building A in the north extended to the area where the modern street is now so that only room 10 remains to be seen. According to the objects excavated in this building, it was used for bronze, ivory and stone vase-making. In the yard, a deposit of volcanic ashes from the Santorini eruption was found.

Also of building B only the southern part is exposed today, consisting of the rooms 2, 11 and 10 (see plan). Although evidence also for stone-vase making was found in room 2, it is believed that the main activity in this building was the production of pottery. Two kilns, four potter's wheels, various other tools, raw materials and a large amount of pottery indicated workrooms and storage places for the finished products.
