Above: Part of the West Magazines, a series of long narrow storerooms with large storage pithoi still in situ.

Below: The famous "Throne Room", reached from the Central Court via an anteroom. Two exits lead from here to a number of other rooms, forming a distinct unit within the place. On both sides of the throne are stone benches, a stone adyton in front. It is likely that here was the central shrine, so that a priestess should be imagined sitting on this throne rather than the king.

Above left: Pavement in front of the Throne Room. - Above right: Grand Staircase in the East Wing of the palace. It descends four flights to the Hall of the Double Axes. In this part of the palace, the Residential Quarters are located.
