GREECE CENTRAL GREECE EVVIA ERETRIA HARBOUR

Modern Eretria is a popular beachside resort, said to be one of the most touristic areas of the island of Evvia - but all of Evvia is not very touristic. The museum and all excavations are located on the northern edge of the town, where ancient sites and modern quarters mix up. The seaside promenade is a bit more busy, but still has its charme.

What a pleasure to sit down and relax in one of the seaside tavernas after a day's walk through all the archaeological sites in the hot summer sun. Delicious appetizers await us, together with a toothsome salad, followed by a large dish of fresh seafood, and of course accompanied by some properly chilled white wine. Something to remember.
