Above: We now come to the gate of the Peribleptos monastery. Its catholicon (main church) is a domed, two-column, cross-in-square church with chapels, disproportionately elevated, and was erected before 1350. This jewel at the southern and lowest end of the site was my absolute favourite in Mystras. Below: In the chapel, cut from the rock, that was the original catholicon of the monastery. |
