Above: The ancient stadium with a 178 m long race track. There has even been a revival of the Nemean Games and since 1994 they are again regularly held here. - Below left: The race track was bordered on either side by a stone water-channel with stone basins at intervals to provide cooling and drinking water for the visitors. - Below center and right: Details of the stone starting line at the western end of the stadium. Wooden sticks were put into the rectangular holes to separate the individual tracks and as part of the starting mechanism. |
