Gorge of the Neda

The spectacular gorge of the Neda river rewards the enduring hiker with a really impressive landscape. At Aspro Nero (Greek: "White Water"), a waterfall feeds the Neda, which flows here through a very narrow canyon. Ropes facilitate the descent to the river.

In antiquity, this was the place where the Black Demeter, portrayed with a horse head, was worshipped. Now it is a green, shady region of great natural beauty. - Below: A hardly discernable crayfish and a frog.
