At the foot of the Aspis hill are the remains of the sanctuaries of Apollo Deiradiotis or Pythios and Athena Oxyderkous (the "sharp-eyed Athena"). Evidence of religious activity at the site exists as early as the Archaic period (6th century BC), but most of the surviving monuments were built during the 4th century BC with repairs in the 4th-3rd centuries BC and in the early Roman Imperial period (1st century AD).
