About 100 m South of the ancient theatre lie the remains of the odeion. The upper 35 rows of now weathered seats belong to a 5th century BC theatre and place of assembly and have been cut into the rock like in the large theatre. This was then integrated in the first century AD into an odeion that was used for speeches and musical performances. The orchestra and the parodoi were adorned with mosaics, the still recognizable niches of the proskenion held statues. - Below: the entrance to the odeion. |
