church of the Dormition of the Virgin ancient spolia

Above: The church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary was built during the second half of the 10th century, restored in the 19th century. Ancient spolia can be found incorporated in the walls. - Below: The church apparently sits on the Hellenistic theatre (3rd century BC) of which there is only a sign and a ring of stones visible today.

Above: The ancient agora, probably third century BC, is quite near but fenced and locked. From outside the fence there is not very much to see. - Below: Also to be seen from outside the fence are the scanty remains of an Early Christian basilica, 5th-6th century AD, the so-called "Basilica of Thyrsos" just next to the agora.
