GREECE PELOPONNESE ARCADIA MELIGOU

South of Astros lies the village of Meligou with the pine covered Kastraki hill rising at its southeastern edge. It is at the top of this hill, reached on a short unpaved road, where the little church of Agioi Apostoloi lies and next to it the picturesquely crumbled ruins of an Ottoman fortification. The church was built in 1611, so it may be safely assumed that the fortification is somewhat older. It is a typical tower-house built by Ottoman landlords in the 17th and mainly the 18th century.
