Above left: Golden cinerary vessel (325 - 300 BC). It contained the bones of an adolescent and the golden oak wreath. The vessel, placed inside the bronze cauldron, was hidden in the Sanctuary of Eukleia together with two more silver cinerary vases, an urn and an amphora which among others contained a golden olive wreath. - Above right: Frame with terracotta loom weights. - Below: Strigils, tools used especially by athletes for scraping off dirt, perspiration, and oil from the body. (An explanation like this is missing in the museum, so visitors who do not know strigils are left with their imagination.) |
