Psira (or Pseira) is a small island in the Gulf of Mirabello, on which Richard Seager first excavated in the beginning of the 20th century. The work was resumed in 1985 and revealed a Minoan settlement, dated to 1700-1450 BC. Some 60 buildings were divided into blocks by cobbled streets and stairs, similar to Cycladic town plans of this period. Cycladic influence is also apparent from the Early Minoan cist graves found on Psira.
